1. Building Your Cloud Operating Model 🗺️
A cloud operating model is the blueprint for how your team will manage technology in the cloud. It defines roles, processes, and how different teams will work together.
- Mindset Shift: You're no longer managing physical servers. The focus is now on managing digital assets and ensuring consistent, reliable operations.
- Operating Models: You'll choose from a few common models. A smaller company might use a centralized model where one team manages everything, while a larger enterprise might use a decentralized model where individual teams have full ownership. The architect's role is to select the model that best fits the company's size and structure.

A landing zone is a pre-configured environment that acts as the starting point for all your cloud workloads. It's like having a pre-built foundation with all the necessary utilities (water, electricity, etc.) already in place.

3. Preparing Your People and Avoiding Pitfalls 👨👩👧👦
Your technology is only as good as the people using it. This part of the "Ready" methodology is all about preparing your team for the cloud.
- Develop Skills: Assess what skills your team needs, from networking fundamentals to security. Use learning paths from Microsoft Learn to close any knowledge gaps.
- Avoid Antipatterns: As you prepare, watch out for common mistakes like inadequate preparation or a lack of understanding of cloud features. An architect's job is to spot these issues early and guide the team toward a smooth adoption process.
